Khurda youngster Ananya Basak bagged a double in the 21st Odisha State and Inter-District Table Tennis Championship, winning the junior girls` and women`s singles titles at NTPC, Kaniha (Angul) today. Asif Haque emerged men`s singles champion, defeating Bikash Singh, who, however, compensated his loss by capturing the youth boys` singles crown.
Other five singles titles were pocketed by Saheel Suman Bhuyan, Anusweta Hembrom, Yoshita Jammula, Krishan Prustry and Janmajay Moharana. Cuttack-A asserted supremacy in team events, bagging titles in both men`s and junior boys` events. The men`s team, comprising Asif Haque, E Eswar Rao and Mohammad Yunus, finished at the top of the league table, while East Coast Railway, featuring Tousif Haque, Mohammad Azhar and Ayub Khan, settled as runners-up.
Cuttack-A junior boys` team, consisting of Eswar, Sudeep and Arya, won the final 3-2 against Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), which was represented by Harish Bag and Janmajay Moharana. Over 200 paddlers from 18 districts participated in the four-day championship, which was organised by Sports Council, NTPC, under the aegis of Odisha State Table Tennis Association. NTPC Executive Director N K Kothari handed over the trophies at the closing function.

Cadet girls: Anusweta Hembrom (RSP) bt Sushree Pattnaik (Khurda) 3-2 (11-7, 11-3, 9-11, 6-11, 9-11). Sub-junior girls: Yoshita Jammula (Khurda) bt Gayatri Mitra (Bbsr) 4-1 (12-10, 11-8, 6-11, 11-6, 11-9). Sub-junior boys: Krishan Prustry (Bbs) bt Arya S Mohaprashasta (Ctc) 4-1 (11-6, 11-4, 11-6,14-16,11-6). Junior girls: Ananya Basak (Khurda) bt Yoshita Jammula 4-0 (11-6, 11-1, 11-2, 11-9. Junior boys: Janmajay Moharana (RSP) bt M Eswar Rao (Ctc) 4-0 (11-5, 11-8, 11-8, 11-6). Youth boys: Bikash Singh (RSP) bt Janmajay Moharana 4-2 (3-11, 8-11, 6-11, 11-7, 12-10, 5-11). Women: Ananya Basak bt Samartha Prusty (Bbs) 4-3 (10-12, 11-8, 12-10, 8-11, 6-11, 11-3, 11-5). Men: Asif Haque (RBI) bt Bikash Singh 4-3 (13-11, 9-11, 13-11, 6-11, 6-11, 16-14, 11-7).
